Net2Phone vs MightyCall

Net2Phone Review

Net2phone Canada, previously known as Versature, is an Ottawa-based VoIP provider focused on the Canadian market. Thanks to a string of successful years, Versature was bought out and merged to create Net2phone, which is now one of the premium VoIP providers in Canada.

Why is MightyCall the best alternative to Net2Phone?

Net2phone has built off of Versature’s success, creating a VoIP platform that has tons of features and integrations. It is clearly a powerful service that can maximize modern-day VoIP.

However, with the look of a powerful and well-run machine, comes the corresponding sky-high prices. You’ll pay more with Net2phone than with just about any other mainstream VoIP provider, and that is not an exaggeration.

Incredibly High Pricing

It should be expected that a big business taking over a small business would immediately look to capitalize on the company’s goodwill to jack up prices. While the system does provide a lot of capability, the prices are tough to stomach.

The Office plan is $24.99 per user a month. For that, you get 5 local numbers and 1 toll-free number, although toll-free minutes are not included and will run up your bill. All the system’s potential integrations are also unavailable with this plan, and high-end features like call recording and voicemail-to-text cost extra.
The same is true of the Office Pro which has all the trappings of the Office—no toll-free minutes, no integrations, and powerful features as add-ons. To pay at least $135 monthly and not get those things is absurd.

Necessary Hardware

Unlike many VoIP companies, Net2phone requires special hardware and setup, meaning the easy plug-and-play approach MightyCall has is not possible. It also means that you’ll need to pay more upfront for the necessary hardware, in addition to renting it on 3 and 5-year contracts.

These long-term contracts will keep your company trapped paying hundreds of dollars a month for years with a little resource if something goes wrong. Perhaps it’s good the system takes some time to get running, as you will have time to think it over before committing.

Gated Content

As mentioned before, Net2phone is a good system, but you don’t get access to most of the system’s features and capabilities until you get to the Office Power plan for $30 per user per month. By that point, you’re paying over $150 a month per 5 users. For 5 users in MightyCall to access a wider set of business phone features and unlimited minutes you’d spend just $100. Not to mention all the integrations that MightyCall includes in this pricing.

When a company has 3 options and only the most expensive one actually gives you a sense of the service’s scale, you can be sure they are trying to extract the most money from you as possible.

Conclusion

Net2phone has undergone a dramatic transformation lately, and by all accounts still seems to be working and running a good product. MightyCall can say the same, and it hasn’t gone through the roof with its prices. Unless you are comfortable signing up for $250+ bills monthly for half a decade, the good of Net2phone does not beat out the good of MightyCall.
